New 3G Handset by Samsung

Samsung Company has just launched its state of the art cellular phone set, the i 900. This “Samsung i900 Omnia” is based on windows mobile (version 6.1). It comes across as a competition to the 3G iPhone. The Omnia has a 3.2 inch fascinating LCD which capable of 240 x 400 resolution. The set contains an optical mouse which similar to that in the Samsung i780. The camera contains 5 MP sensor and has auto focusing mechanism. It is capable of face detection, smile detection and adds Geotagging using a built-in GPS receiver apart from usual web browsing and easy e-mailing options. The thickness of the mobile is just 12.5 mm and comes with 8 GB and a 16 GB. Apart from that it has a Micro SD for expanding its storage capacity.

The prototype has Google as its web browser home page, GMAIL as its email gateway and Google Maps for navigation. Its is slated to be in the market by end of this year. According to market estimate, mobile advertising market could be worth $11 billion by 2011.

HCL Launches India’s Cheapest Laptop

Going cheap by creating products for the masses is the buzzword in corporate India for the year 2008. After the cheapest car “Nano” by Tata Automobiles, HCL, the IT and Computer major has unveiled the cheapest laptop christened as MiLeap that costs as little as Rs.13990/- ( roughly $360).

The laptop wieghes less than one kilogram and is powered by Intel processor with a seven-inch (7″) screen. It will be available on HCL’s outlets from 28th January onwards. HCL hopes to garner a lion share of India’s fast growing laptop market that is projected to grow by 80-100% over next few years.
“HCL pioneered Indi’s first micro-computer, the first desktop personal computer and the first home PC. The range of MiLeap laptops could herald a new milestone for the company,” said Ajai Chowdhury, chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems.
The MiLeap will come in two series – the cheaper series MiLeap X will have a highest price tag of Rs.16,990 ($450) and the higher end MiLeap Y series will have a highest price tag of Rs.39,990 ($1050)
